A photo of me on Kauai

Meet the Artist

Debbie Tracey is a contemporary acrylic artist based in Olympia, Washington. Raised on Kauai, Hawaii, she spent much of her life near and in the ocean, where shifting light, movement, and color became a lasting visual language. Today, from her studio overlooking Puget Sound, she continues to draw inspiration from the atmosphere and rhythms of the Pacific.

Working in acrylic, Debbie builds each painting through layers of color, transparent glazes, and expressive marks made with brushes and palette knives. Her compositions often suggest horizons, currents, trees, tropical forms, and distant land while remaining firmly rooted in abstraction. She is especially interested in the space between abstraction and landscape—where a familiar sense of place can emerge through color, movement, and mood.

Through her work, Debbie hopes to create moments of calm, energy, and reflection while leaving room for viewers to bring their own memories and interpretations to each painting.

Her work has been featured in solo, shared, group, and juried exhibitions throughout Washington and Oregon, including exhibitions at Cliff Creek Cellars, Hilton Vancouver, Cannon Beach Art Gallery, Verum Ultimum Gallery, and the Lenore R. Fuller Gallery. She received the People’s Choice Award at the 2025 Equinox Art Show and a Bronze Award in Camelback Gallery’s 2026 All Abstracts exhibition.

Debbie’s paintings are held in private collections across the United States, including Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, and Vermont. She is affiliated with the Society of Washington Artists and exhibits with galleries and regional art venues throughout the Pacific Northwest.
